Insectoids
Mantis Beings
Towering, ancient insect-like geneticists, often seen behind the Grays
Mantis beings are tall, insect-like beings that appear often in contact and abduction accounts, frequently in a supervising role alongside the Grays. Ismael Perez calls them among the strongest genetic engineers and says that, while some factions were once a serious threat, they are now largely non-threatening. The encyclopedia's sources portray them as ancient wisdom-keepers.
Also called: Mantids, Mantises, Praying mantis beings.

If you met one…
Accounts describe a very tall, slender being with a triangular head, large slanted dark eyes and extra joints in its limbs, sometimes wearing a long robe. The encyclopedia's sources describe an observant, watchful temperament.
What they look like
Elongated insectoid bodies with segmented exoskeletons, triangular heads and large slanted eyes from deep brown to black. The encyclopedia gives 6–9 ft; Perez says some reach 15–20 ft.
Their gifts
Sources agree on mastery of genetics; the encyclopedia also calls them keepers of teachings from the original seeding of life in this region.
Their bond with Earth
Often described as the supervising presence behind Grays in genetic and abduction programs. Perez says this is largely in the past: mantis groups are currently described as largely non-threatening.
What each source says
In his briefing, Ismael Perez describes mantis groups as extremely tall supervisors of genetic operations and among the strongest genetic engineers, ranking them alongside the feline Ormas. Some factions were formerly a severe threat, but he says they are currently largely non-threatening. He places the negative mantis groups beneath the Draco in the old hostile hierarchy.
The revised FAQ notes that mantis and insectoid beings appear in many taxonomies as ancient, highly telepathic peoples linked to genetics and oversight, and cautions that they should not be assigned a single agenda just because their bodies look unfamiliar.

Perez said Solar Warden super soldiers fought 15-foot mantis beings, other insectoids and reptoids on Mars, and that wounded soldiers had lost limbs regrown in hours with holographic regenerators. On 2023-12-04 he listed the insectoid mantis races among the members of the Luciferian Cosmic Brotherhood serving the AI God.
In a 1992 transmission Bashar described the mantis-like beings some abductees report as an upper tier in the Grays' organization. In his account they coordinate certain visits to Earth, and they are only partly physical in the form people see. Fan summaries of his material call them the overseers or managers of the hybridization agenda.
Elizabeth April calls the Mantis highly advanced insectoid beings with deep telepathic gifts who act as overseers in the galaxy, specializing in DNA evolution, energetic upgrades and building bridges between species. Her best-known Mantis contact, Khan, is described as a non-physical, 12th-dimensional overseer whose purpose is to teach groups what it means to be a true collective; she says he is a large, wise and surprisingly funny future version of herself, some 200 lifetimes ahead.
In the Family of Taygeta material the Mantis are described as at least mostly benign. Mari Swaruu says they sometimes oversee Orion Grays during abductions, and that a Mantis group holds one of three sectors on Mars alongside Maitre Grays and reptilians under a treaty that complicates removing the Maitre. Swaruu also notes that the insect-like 'xenomorphs' of film have nothing to do with the Mantis.
The A–Z encyclopedia calls the Mantids master geneticists working at the substrate of biological consciousness, wisdom-keepers from the earliest seedings of life, and observers by temperament. It notes they are often the supervising presence behind Greys in abduction accounts, and points to a possible echo in the Khoisan figure /Kaggen.
